Fan Art

Did a sketch of my interpretation of a Bokoblin from The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Probably gonna give this one the full photoshop treatment. The colors should be lots of fun.

Face Draw-athon

so over the last few months I decided to start drawing faces on the bus. After a few pages of quick sketches, I decided to finish out the sketchbook with nothing but pages of faces.

This was a great way to focus on character, expression, and just having fun drawing in my free time again. These were all done with a ballpoint pen, which is really starting to grow on me. The unforgiving nature of something I can't erase forces me to improvise when I make mistakes instead of erasing them.

Like I said, the sketchbook is done now, so I'll probably post again with some more drawings soon.

Sorry about the massive update. If I just updated more often it wouldn't be a problem >.>

Painting the color blue

Didn't finish mr. green down there, but I did a quick 3.5 hour blue creature. Trying to play more with mixing colors, as well as hard and soft brushes. Still haven't gotten the hang of subsurface scattering. The anatomy's nothing special but I wasn't really focused on that aspect. That's about it for now.

Lunchtime WIP

Started another painting tonight, only 1.5 hours in, some big green eating machine. Lighting and colors mostly laid out, just have to render it more and do all the little details, polish, and storytelling (he's probably gonna be slobbering and shit)

If I do 3 of these every week, I'm going to get better at a rate that actually makes me feel good about myself... ideally.

I'll finish it tomorrow, I swear.

Paintings

Wow, my first post since I graduated. Sorry about that. I've felt less motivated to post on here since then for some reason. Hopefully, this will get me back into the habit of it.

Not going to be the art dump that it usually is for me this time, just a few paintings I've done in my spare time.

First one is a 6 hour photo study of Scarlett Johansson. I'm happy with the way the values look, but the shapes need work. Lots of work. I've never finished a portrait in Photoshop before so it was really great just to call something done. This was also the first study I've done without doing any color picking (that is, from the reference photo) which made it an infinitely more valuable learning experience.

Speaking of things I haven't finished... (and probably won't)
Here are a couple other WIP Paintings/concepts from the last couple months. Didn't really put more than a couple hours into the colored versions of either of them.

I'll get around to posting some of the ridiculous number of drawings from the past few months soon, I hope. I'll also be posting some work (probably) from Battle Nations when the next update goes live.
