Pixel Art

I've been doing more pixel art, here's a gator looking dude that isn't pixel art. This is part of a personal project that I'm not talking too much about right now. IM SO MYSTERIOUS, GUYS.
Next is a WIP sketch of some characters for a game I'm working on with a friend about animal hoarding. Apparently, that's a thing.

Here's the pixel art I was talking about. This is a WIP image showing off some pixel art I did during a 2 day game jam this last weekend. It was cool and fun and other adjectives too.

The name of the game was "It Probably Came from Outer Space." It's a game where you play as an action hero filming the final scene of a 50's style, sci-fi B-movie about an alien invasion.

This is the game over screen, where you see the business executives in charge of funding the film disapproving of your use of the budget:

Orca Spirit and Pixel Art

So, first off,  I got around to coloring a spread from my sketchbook, this doesn't happen very often, so I'm pleased I made time for it.

I had this old sketch from a while back that I was digging, so I did some quick PS color work and then (more recently) turned it into pixel art, since that's been more interesting to me lately.

This old bird loves reading the sports section, has books on the history of birdseed, and a bunch of old VCR recordings of his favorite golf matches.

Behemoth Style!

I really love the art style over at The Behemoth games, so I thought I'd do a piece of my own in their style.

Art Influences

I've seen a few other people do this and I think it's a pretty cool idea. These are my biggest art influences; the people that have made me draw the way I do, my favorite artists, and people that just downright inspire me.

1. Mr Jack
2. André Mealha a.k.a Browning
3. Feng Zhu
4. Pascal Blanche
5. Cory Loftis
6. Donn Kenn
7. Sam Nielsen
8. Android Jones
9. Matt Barret
10. My hero, Bill Waterson
11. Darren Bartley
12. Niklas Janson
13. Ian Mcque

More recent stuff

It's been a while since I posted anything that wasn't sketchbook work on here. This guy is about 650 tris without the pedestal, texture is a single 512 diffuse. I wish I could take credit for the concept but there's this guy named André Mealha who'd get mad if I did. This was mostly practice for painting light in hand painted textures.

I also posted him on Sketchfab, which is an up-and-coming site for realtime, web-powered model viewing.

And people are outside again. Definitely some crazy mood swings on a couple of these pages.

Spring drawings and life

I've been back into drawing like never before and I finally got around to scanning a few pages my most recent sketchbook. A few things to note, I'm drawing exclusively in pen now, because no smudging, no erasing and i think i get a slight high from the smell of the ink. I'm writing lots of stupid shit next to the drawings these days, and my handwriting is terrible. If you can't make out what it says, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I wasn't sober for a good half of this nonsense.
